Learning About Art

The kids have been busy with lots of fun art projects this month.  We have been diving into different kinds of Modern Art.  The girls are LOVING it!  I have wanted to teach my kids more than just how to paint or color.  Now seemed like a great time to do it!

UntitledThe first kind of Modern Art we started to discuss is Cubism.  Do you know any famous Cubist artists?  Well, Picasso is a Cubist!  Cubist artists use different shapes to make amazing pictures.   The kids and I looked through some books and online to learn more about Picasso and Modern Art (links below).

The project you see the kids working on is an idea that came from our Kiwi Crate.  We used a sheet of paper designed with different colors, shapes and facial features.  The girls cut them out and glued them to their paper frame.  They look amazing!

We enjoy Kiwi Crate because all the supplies come with the project but you don't need Kiwi Crate for this project.  Grab your old magazines and some paper, glue and scissors!  Let the kids cut out different shapes and facial features to design their own art!

While we focused on our project we also looked at these other fun ideas:
a free coloring worksheet of Picasso,  finger painting flowers Picasso style,   explore Picasso

If you are interested in trying Kiwi Crate use the link for $10.00 off your first box.
