Crazy Couponer...

Well, like I told you I've decided to check #5 off my list -- coupon successfully for a period of 3 months. Yes, its been more like 3 days (or a week) but still. I'm working at it.

Yesterday, I went to CVS and walked out with body wash, shave stuff, tooth paste and a package of sour patch kids for 10 cents! Yes, 10 cents!!! Vegas was pleasantly surprised -- he said .10 cents? And, I showed him the receipt. What made him roll his eyes laugh is that I seriously charged the 0.10 to the card because I never carry cash!!!

Today, I went to the commissary. The commissary, for you non-military folk, is the grocery store on base. We have limited stores here in San Antonio for "major" chains we can pick between Walmart & HEB and if I want to drive a little further Target.

Now, for the trip this morning I was kind of planning it. I knew what I needed to get and had coupons for what I could find. Since I'm still "new" to this couponing I really don't have a huge stockpile of coupons which makes it a little bit difficult, but still doable. You'll see my shop below...

I couldn't find a coupon for trashbags or dishsoap but we needed both of those badly so I had to buy them. I had 1.00 off coupons for each package of napkins, costing me 0.27 package. I got all those razors for free -- 4.00 off coupon, 4.00 pricetag! I got the KY (which, I am embarrassingly putting into the picture but thinking of donating it to the VET clinic, maybe they need that stuff?) because I had a 3.00 off coupon and it was only 1.87 so I made 1.13 towards the purchase of something else...I bought hotdogs like they were going out of style because I needed them for our BBQ, I bought cereal because I needed it (and had a few coupons for it), I bought tinfoil because who doesn't need tinfoil when it only costs 0.19! And, sugar was completely free, too!

In the end, I saved 58% on this shopping trip for a total of 66.03! I spent 52.57!

Would I like to have saved more? Yes! But, when I'm buying organic milk, bread, trash bags, dish soap that all have no coupons, plus cheese slices to give the dog his medication...it adds up to something! Plus, not every coupon made the items free. I'm happy...and I've got a little stock pile of necessities starting...

Want to know where I got a specific coupon, just ask. I don't have the time to make a link for each coupon and all that stuff...but YAY!
